Vivos (underground shelter)

Vivos, also known as The Vivos Group, is a California-based company founded by Robert Vicino that is building a worldwide network of hardened underground shelters designed to withstand future disasters and life-extinction catastrophes, whether natural or man-made.[1][2] The shelter spaces are sold fractionally, with Co-Owners investing $25,000 to $50,000 per person for an undivided equitable ownership interest in their respective Vivos shelter. Each planned Vivos shelter facility varies in size, accommodating from a few dozen people up to several hundred. Shelter unit costs vary, but each averages around $10 million to build. Applicants are reviewed and screened by a Selection Committee in order to be approved for Co-Ownership.[3] As of January 2011, about 7,000 applications have been received for space in the shelters, with at least 6 shelters underway across the United States ranging in size from 10,000 to 137,000 square feet. At complete build out Vivos hopes to accommodate 4,000 people for up to one year of autonomous survival from virtually any catastrophe created by nature, mankind or from the cosmos. The project also includes a Cryovault that will maintain liquid nitrogen vaults preserving the reproductive cells and DNA of humans and animals for a potential repopulation of the Earth.
